Last year, as part of its ‘Children Come First’ Telethon, Family Centre introduced a Lip Sync Competition that proved to be incredibly popular. Eight teams participated, with the winning team being the Arch Angels of Arch Re with their performance of “Lose My Breath” by Destiny’s Child.
This year Family Centre is opening the competition up to the public and there is no fee to participate and no age restriction. Individuals or teams will need to submit their lip sync videos to by Friday, September 16, but the earlier the better!
Videos don’t need to be professional or fancy – take it on your cell phone or GoPro! Each person or team will be set up with a personalized fundraising page on CrowdRise.com which they can use to encourage people to vote for their video with donations of any size. The videos with the most funds raised, and some select ‘fan favorites,’ will advance to a live event taking place on November 3, 2016 from 6:30pm-9:30pm at the Fairmont Southampton Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre. Those advancing through will be announced on September 30th. Go to Family Centre’s Facebook page for more details and inspiration.
The goal with this event is to raise $50,000 in support of Family Centre’s vital programmes and services. Each year Family Centre supports hundreds of children and families in Bermuda through its Training & Advocacy, Community Programmes and Intensive Counselling Services.
Family Centre is an internationally accredited Bermuda charity (charity #378). The organization was founded in 1990 and since 1996 has provided early intervention services to children who were suffering from family based problems such as abuse, neglect, and other emotional challenges. Through our specialized programmes and prevention initiatives, we provide families with the skills they need to be successful and to sustain that success for future generations. The scope of Family Centre’s work is island-wide, as services are available to any Bermuda resident that meets the criteria and has the need.
