Coronavirus Update

UPDATED: MAY 17th, 2020

A letter from the Lindo’s family:

Dear customers,

Now that there are confirmed cases of coronavirus in Bermuda, we are stepping up some of our policies and protections for team members and customers and we wanted to take the time to share these with you.

Store Hours and policies

Going forward, Lindo’s stores will be open 8:00 am until 7:00 pm Monday-Saturday and will be allowing only 50 shoppers into the store at a time, operating a ‘one in, one out’ policy. We ask that our customers move as quickly and efficiently through the store, showing compassion for other members of the public waiting to get in.

Grocery store visits are according to your surname. A-F is on Monday and Thursday. G-Q is Tuesday and Friday. R-Z is Wednesday and Saturday.

We will be working with a local security company, Bermuda Security Agency, to enforce these restrictions. While queuing and in the store, customers are asked to maintain a distance of at least six feet from each other in order to comply with social distancing measures.

The Bermuda Government has advised: “Where practical, only one household member should travel for groceries [this must not be a person who is subject to a 14-day self-quarantine or who is in isolation]. Single parents of young children may take their children with them. Other than this scenario, we strongly discourage children from attending grocery stores, please.

For Your Safety & Ours

Our team members have been issued gloves and face masks to be used at their discretion in addition to the hand sanitizer bottles and wipes they have already been issued. Cleaning procedures have been stepped up.

To further ensure your safety and our team members, the public is advised that facial coverings (masks) will be mandatory for all persons entering any Lindo’s store. Facial coverings must completely cover both mouth and nose.

We urge all shoppers to practice basic preventative measures by regularly and thoroughly cleaning your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water, and to especially do so before entering our stores.

Alternative Shopping

We strongly encourage members of the public to exercise compassion and restraint during this challenging time. We also urge you to consider shopping online at order.lindos.bm or with DropIt.bm.

We thank you all for your loyal and continuing patronage. We will continue to update you on developments as they happen.

Yours sincerely,

The Lindo’s family

Baked Berry Oatmeal

This mixed berry oatmeal bake is a delicious way to start the day. Serve right out of the oven, or make ahead, refrigerate and serve cold or reheated the next day.

Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅓ cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 12 oz frozen mixed berries
  • ¼ cup walnut halves, chopped

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together quick oats, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla, honey, and butter.
  4. In a 2-quart baking dish, add half the berries then add the oat mixture over the berries, making sure to spread both the berry and oat layers evenly. Pour on the wet mixture, then add the remaining berries and top with the chopped walnuts.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the oats have absorbed the liquid.
